My daughter, Pumpkin, absolutely loves music and dancing. Pretty cute, huh?
Since it's election year we have several candidates passing around our neighborhood to say hi and stuff. Last week one of the candidates for mayor was in the neighborhood. Before I knew it all the music and the people were in our street getting closer and closer to our house. Pumpkin wanted to go outside but I refused: I vote without talking about it. Plus we are new in this house and neighborhood! We were watching through the gate and a lady came by to ask if we wanted to say hi to the mayor.
Lady: Good evening! Would you like to say hi to the mayor? If you have any complaints this could also be a good time for that.
Me: No thanks. I get embarrassed too easily. (plus my hair was a mess)
Lady: But why? Really?
Me: No, really. Thanks
Lady: OK. Well, would you like a flag?
Me: (I looked at Pumpkin and she was already extending her hand) Yeah, sure!
Pumpkin stayed there, waving her flag. After they were long gone we did go outside. This little one knew which way they went and wanted to go after them. Funny little lady! Finally she settled and sat on the stairs, like we always do.... except this time she would proudly wave the candidate's flag whenever a car passed by.
What a way to be welcomed into the neighborhood.
