THAT kid

Yesterday I went to make some claims at our cable provider's office. Anytime it involves sitting for more than 15 minutes with a child, I start to break out.

It all started so well. The line was moving along fairly quick and Pumpkin was just relaxing on my lap. They called me about 15 minutes later and I started my discussion with the lady. They are charging us a freakin' lot and we don't even know why. And lady, you don't mess with my internet service!

Maybe 15 minutes later Pumpkin started: "are you done?", "did you finish?", "let's go!". No sweetie, I am still talking. When I am finished I will stand up. And her voice started escalating..."LET'S GO!, LET'S GO!, LET'S GO!" that in itself was terrible. And then she started hitting me! WTF? I am mortified to even be writing this. How is this possible? We don't even spank her! I left as soon as I could, without looking at anyone.

Outside we sat down and I explained to her that we don't scream or hit. That she was not in her best behavior, mommy is very sad, and she would not watch any TV in the car. She said she was sorry, many times. And I still remained firm, and calm (thank you Lord!) and told her that even if she said sorry, it was wrong and she could not do it again.

In the car she was screaming, and I was crying. Terribly sad, frustrated and mortified that my child was THAT child. The one everyone watches silently and hope his/her mother does something about it.
